Politics play a huge part in Elyria. Any role can be taken, so there are many layers to the system. We don't know everything yet, but Caspian has given us a good idea already.[citation needed]

Laws[ | ]

Laws will be player determined by the rulers or nobles of certain areas.

Contracts[ | ]

Contracts will play a major role in the lives of most Elyrians, for a detailed overview on this, see Contracts.

Layers of political settlements[ | ]

For more information, check the page on Settlements.

Political titles[ | ]

  • Elder or Village Council
  • Mayor/Town Council
  • Magistrate/City Council or Baron
  • Count or Sheriff
  • Duke
  • King

In regards to the mechanics and experiences of each, Caspian has said that running a Barony will have "Sim-like qualities", while a County will be similar to an RTS, a Duchy a "War Sim", and a Kingdom a "God-game".[citation needed]

To learn more about these titles and its influences, check the page on Fame.

Sizes of Land and Settlements[ | ]

All areas of land interact in an interwoven set of relationships. Much like the real world contains countries, each with sets of provinces, counties, and cities, Elyria also has its own hierarchy for land organization.[1]

  • Each server’s continent includes 4 to 6 Kingdoms
  • There are 5 to 8 Duchies in each Kingdom, or ~32 Duchies per server
  • There are 8 to 64 Counts in each Duchy, or ~1,000 Counties across a server
  • Each county contains different sized cities, towns, villages, and hamlets housing it’s residents, where an average County will have 400 characters - players & NPCs.
