The cutter isn't built for war or deep water, but its speed makes it a perfect choice for coastal patrols looking to discourage raiders. Its masts and sails can push the cutter to speeds that are hard to achieve with other boats, making it popular among coastal traders looking to outrun threats and outpace the competition.[1]
With favourable conditions, the coastal cutter can reach speeds of about 3-5 knots. To fully crew the vessel it would take 3 - 4 individuals. The boom of the ships sail will allow small to average size individuals headroom but larger individuals, such as the Brudvir, may have to duck down.[2][3]
